Heather Kovar, MediaIte, the perils of single-anchored news broadcasting and a fun concert with a Tom Petty cover band

A slurring news anchor invoked a wave of hysteria again in the USA, sparking waves of virtue signaling and idiocy and the suspension of Heather Kovar, who — to the trained eye of anyone who is not a completely brainwashed idiot — obviously had a great time at the muscle car/concert party she reported on just before the broadcast in question on Albany, NY CBS affiliate WRGB.

The MediaIte and other mainstream reporting on this is appalling. I found this endearing and comical because it is like a comedy sketch where the premise is “what happens when a local news channel sends their only anchor out to report on a party/concert before their broadcast?”.

Someone either called in sick or this reporter got a bit liberal when it came to the one or two beers she could have before having to go on air.

It is so obvious what happened here, she had a blast at the concert she was sent to report on and made telling the audience what a good time it was the lead story — this is hilarious and amazing and I can’t shake the feeling this was due to something unexpected or maybe just due to her employers’ unrealistic expectations. Why is the anchorwoman out all day reporting? If they were aware of any problem why not send someone else, or tell her “eh, don’t drink too much, you rascal”. Maybe someone called in sick.

Either way, this is another example of the pathological and wholly unproductive obsession our culture has with OPTICS. They see someone slurring on TV and no matter how obvious the context for it is — it’s some big, scary problem and they want to make sure someone they will spend weeks making fun of “gets the help they need”.

Shut the fuck up, you’re all idiots. Unsuspend this woman and stop being hysterical parodies of what humans and citizens are supposed to be.
